CAMEROON OBSERVES THE WORLD DAY FOR SAFETY AND HEALTH AT WORK.
Cameroon, in concert with the international community commemorates this Thursday, April 28, 2016, the World Day for Safety and Health at Work.
Statistics show that each year about two million people lose their lives to causes of accidents and work-related diseases.
The UN says many workers are facing heavy pressure. This day is dedicated to the theme: "Stress at work: a collective challenge." The objective is to promote a safe, healthy and decent.
After a press conference convened by the Cameroon Society of Occupational Safety and Health Engineering (CSSE), we learned that stress is taking a certain place in Cameroon in increasing the prevalence of psychiatric and cardiovascular disease. About 2,400 work-related injuries occur each year in Cameroon.
In view of this, Cameroon has taken action. The Minister of Labour and Social Security, Grégoire Owona said these workplace accidents could be avoided if we pay attention. Hence the need to provide relaxation means for workers to organize group sessions of sport and especially to mutually create a suitable atmosphere in the workplace.
For this fourth edition, the National Social Insurance Fund (CNPS) is currently organizing a forum on worker safety.
